Research Grant Program

Now accepting 2022 proposals! Submission deadline April 29, 2022

Crawford Hydrology Laboratory is pleased to continue our initiative to help support karst research. Continued in 2022 in celebration of the UIS International Year of Caves and Karst (iyck2021.org), we are expanding our research grant program to include opportunities for cave conservancies and/or National Speleological Society (NSS) grottos in addition to students!

The Laboratory will provide two annual awards of up to $1,000 each through a proposal competition open to the following categories: 1) undergraduate and/or graduate researchers, and 2) NSS grottos and/or cave conservancy organizations. Grants will cover up to $1000 in support of laboratory analytical costs used in groundwater tracing investigations.

Any full-time undergraduate or graduate student enrolled at an accredited university with an endorsement from a full-time faculty member of that university is eligible. Proposals from high school students may be considered with additional supporting documentation as described in the application. Registered members of an NSS grotto and/or cave conservancy groups are eligible with an endorsement from your organization leader. Applicants are eligible for the award once per calendar year. Applications can be submitted electronically to crawford.hydrology@wku.edu or by regular post to 1906 College Heights Blvd., Bowling Green, KY, 42101.

Proposals should be limited to projects that can be completed within 12 months from the start of the project. Awards are limited to a maximum of $1,000 per project. For application details please see the official Request for Proposal.
